Drawing a smiling cartoon is very simple.

Draw one big circle with pencil. Draw an imaginary line in the centre, draw two semi circles, (slightly oval shape) on both the side, in between there should be a space for one more circle.  The two semi circles on the side are eyes.  Put two dots inside the semi circle.

Draw two lines below the semi circle.  Those two are two eyes.  Now we need to put eye brows for the eyes, draw two thick lines as you can see in the above picture. They are eyebrows.  It should be little higher than the eyes, which expresses surprise. Draw one small line just above the eyebrow, these tiny lines are very important for cartoons.

Now we need to draw two ears on both the side.  Draw again two semi circles, as shown above, they form ears. And also draw small curve inside the semi circle.  We need to put two hair on the top of the head, just like antennas on the ants or any insect.  It is just to give atttraction.  We have finished, eyes, eyebrows, and ears.

Now we need to add nose and mouth.  Small inverted semi circle below the two eyes forms the nose.  Draw a big U and small dash below the big U which will form the smile for the face. Put two dashes at the end of the U which will actually make smile.

Draw small curve just below the circle at the chin.  And on the nose, put some thin dashes, which will make the nose dark.  This is will give good impact on the face.

A SMILY is done. When you draw get the feel of the smile inside you, only then you will be able to express it on the paper.

Practice the cartoon many times till you get perfection.
